Understanding the Condition

About GI Cancer

Gastrointestinal cancers — spanning the oesophagus, stomach, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas — represent some of oncology's most complex challenges. At Dr. Manish Singhal's clinic, every GI oncology case is reviewed by a dedicated tumour board comprising medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, hepatologists, gastroenterologists, and interventional radiologists. From early-stage endoscopic resection to advanced TACE for HCC and complex Whipple's procedures, we offer the full spectrum of GI cancer management.

Prevention & Early Detection

H. pylori eradication — reduces gastric cancer risk by up to 40%
Hepatitis B vaccination and antiviral therapy to prevent HCC
Alcohol abstinence or strict moderation to reduce liver and oesophageal cancer risk
Regular endoscopy surveillance for Barrett's oesophagus and gastric intestinal metaplasia
Maintaining healthy BMI to reduce GERD and adenocarcinoma risk
Aflatoxin exposure minimisation (relevant to liver cancer in endemic areas)
GI Cancer Treatment

Our Treatment Approach

Oesophago-gastric cancers are staged with CT, EUS, and staging laparoscopy. Resectable gastric cancers receive perioperative FLOT chemotherapy followed by gastrectomy. HER2-positive tumours receive trastuzumab. HCC is managed by BCLC stage — early HCC with ablation/resection, intermediate with TACE, advanced with sorafenib or atezolizumab + bevacizumab. Pancreatic cancer resection (Whipple's) is followed by gemcitabine-based adjuvant chemotherapy.
